A (semi)dynamical system on a topological space \(X\) is a triad \((X,\mathbb R, \pi)\), \(\pi: X\times \mathbb R \to X\) (resp. \((X,\mathbb R_+, \pi)\), \(\pi: X\times \mathbb R_+ \to X\)) , satisfying the well-known conditions. The authors compare a global attractor \(K\) with the space \(X\). Their main result is the following: Let \(X\) be a Hausdorff space and \((X, \mathbb R_+, \pi)\) a semidynamical system with global attractor \(K\). Then the inclusion \(K \to X\) induces an H-shape equivalence. {H-shape equivalence} means an equivalence in a theory of {compactly generated shape}, which is used in order to be able to extend shape theory to arbitrary Hausdorff spaces. As a corollary the authors obtain well-known results of the same kind but for less general classes of spaces. Moreover, they assert that for a \(k\)-space \(X\), a global attractor \(K\) is connected if and only if \(X\) is connected.
