The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of several finite difference techniques in modeling unsteady homogeneous and heterogeneous flames in closed combustors. The results are obtained in terms of the profiles of gas and liquid phase properties at different instances of time as the flame traverses the combustor. From these results, the relative efficiency and accuracy of each of the numerical techniques are discussed.
