The authors apply Biró's method [\textit{A. Biró}, Acta Arith. 106, No. 1, 85--104 (2003; Zbl 1154.11338), ibid. 107, No. 2, 179--194 (2003; Zbl 1154.11339)] to classify those Richaud-Degert fields with radicand \(D=n^2+1\) an even square free integer, and having class number equal to \(2\). They are \(D\in\{10,26,122,362\}\). This extends work, published in 1991, of this reviewer and \textit{H. C. Williams} [Computational number theory, Proc. Colloq., Debrecen/Hung. 1989, 95--101 (1991; Zbl 0734.11058)] who classified all real quadratic fields of Richaud-Degert type with class number \(2\), with one possible exceptional value that is ruled out under the assumption of the generalized Riemann hypothesis.
