The paper represents an extension of a previous author's paper [see Proc. IEEE 72, 1131 (1984)] to the circular stability test for polynomials with complex coefficients. The procedure proposed by the author for the calculation of the zeros of a polynomial with complex coefficients is based on a three-term recursion of symmetric polynomials and can be carried out by only real arithmetics. The lemmas and theorems provided in the paper permit to obtain conditions for which the zeros of polynomials with complex coefficients are located inside, on and outside of the unit circle in the complex plane. This paper represents a notable contribution in the stability technique of discrete-time systems.
