Absorption processes: Models for \(q\)-identities (Q675900): Difference between revisions

The author introduces several variants of \textit{N. Blomqvist's} absorption process [Skand. Aktuarietidskr. 1952, 201-210 (1952; Zbl 0048.11104)]. In this way, probabilistic proofs are given for some well-known identities of Gaussian polynomials, for the Rogers-Ramanujan identities, for the identical distribution of inversion and comajor index. \(q\)-Bessel and \(q\)-cosine functions naturally arise as limit distributions.
