Algebraic methods developed by Kamber-Tondeur are involved in a detailed calculation of the characteristic homomorphism for locally homogeneous subfoliations (flags). As an application, some examples are described in which there are non-zero secondary classes outside the subalgebra generated by the characteristic classes of each of the foliations.
