This paper contains a summary of works on systems consisting of different types of PDEs, functional PDEs and ODEs, based on the theory of monotone type operators. Nonlinear systems containing different types of differential equations appear in problems describing diffusion and transport in popous media with variable porosity. Some existence results in bounded or unbounded time intervals are also presented.
