The authors give a new proof-theoretic analysis of the Suslin operator in applicative theories. In contrast to the treatment in [\textit{G. Jäger} and \textit{T. Strahm}, ``The proof-theoretic analysis of the Suslin operator in applicative theories'', Lect. Notes Log. 15, 270--292 (2002; Zbl 1015.03058)] the given analysis uses appropriate strong versions of ordinal theories as introduced in [\textit{G. Jäger}, ``Fixed points in Peano arithmetic with ordinals'', Ann. Pure Appl. Logic 60, No. 2, 119--132 (1993; Zbl 0776.03027)].
