In this paper it is analyzed the nanopore phenomenon which appears during aluminum anodization. The main framework is related to nonlinear partial differential equations of Kuramoto-Sivashinsky type, which describe the dynamics of metal-oxide and oxide-electrolyte interfaces. The approximate evolution equations are derived from the electrochemical anodization model, that represents the potential field governed by a Laplace equation with nonlinear boundary conditions at the moving oxide-electrolyte and metal-oxide boundary interfaces, by linearizing the boundary conditions while maintaining the homogeneous solution. Several numerical examples illustrate the abstract results established in the present paper.
