Es wird untersucht, in welcher Weise der Überdruck, der eine Folge der Gezeiten im nördlichen Teile des Atlantischen Ozeans ist, durch Änderung der Form der Erdoberfläche die Richtung des Schwerefeldes in Chicago beeinflußt. Der Verf. findet eine Abweichung von \(0''.009\), also ungefähr die Hälfte des maximalen Mondeffekts.
