Let \(S'\) be an unbranched covering of a finite bordered Riemann surface \(S\) and \(A:=H^\infty(S')\). It is shown that the Bass stable rank of \(A\) is one. The proof is based on \textit{S. Treil}'s result [J. Funct. Anal. 109, No. 1, 130--154 (1992; Zbl 0784.46037)] that \(\mathrm{bsr}H^\infty(\mathbb D)=1\), on equivalent formulations of having the stable rank one by using extensions of mappings, and on other previous work of the author on this space \(A\). Another result concerns the decomposition of an \(n\times n\) matrix over \(A\) into a product of at most \((n-1) (3n/2 +1)\) elementary matrices with norm control.
