After having recalled the harmonic numbers \(H(n)\) studied by \textit{J. M. Santmyer} [Discrete Math. 171, No. 1--3, 229--235 (1997; Zbl 0873.05006)], the \(r\)-order hyperharmonic numbers \(H(n,r)\) described by \textit{J. H. Conway} and \textit{R. K. Guy} [The book of numbers. Berlin: Springer-Verlag (1996; Zbl 0866.00001)], the \(r\)-Stirling numbers of the first kind \(A(n,k,r)\) introduced by \textit{A. Z. Broder} [Discrete Math. 49, 241--259 (1984; Zbl 0535.05006)] and the notable identity \[ H(n,r)= \frac{A(n+r,r+1,r)}{n!} \qquad (n,r \in \mathbb {Z^+}), \] provided by \textit{A. T. Benjamin} et al. [Integers 3, Paper A15, 3 p. (2003; Zbl 1128.11309)], the author clarifies the aim to establish new properties of \(H_q(n,r)\), i.e., the \(q\)-generalization of \(H(n,r)\). In particular, the paper investigates the \(q\)-analog of the harmonic numbers related to the Wolstenholme's theorem refining previous works, e.g., by \textit{G. E. Andrews} [Discrete Math. 204, No. 1--3, 15--25 (1999; Zbl 0937.05014)], by \textit{L.-L. Shi} and \textit{H. Pan} [Am. Math. Mon. 114, No. 6, 529--531 (2007; Zbl 1193.11018)] and by \textit{K. Dilcher} [Electron. J. Comb. 15, No. 1, Research Paper R63, 18 p. (2008; Zbl 1206.11024)]. In the proof, the author employs: the \(q\)-binomial theorem illustrated in [\textit{G. E. Andrews}, The theory of partitions. Section: Number Theory (1976; Zbl 0371.10001)]; the analogous statistic explored by \textit{M. Shattuck} [Integers 5, No. 1, Paper A07, 14 p. (2005; Zbl 1074.05009)]; a summation-by-parts formula from \textit{W. R. Wade} [An introduction to analysis. 2nd ed. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall (2000; Zbl 0951.26001)]; some results supplied by \textit{R. B. Corcino} [Integers 8, No. 1, Article A29, 16 p. (2008; Zbl 1210.05007)]. The author remarks that the \(q\)-logarithm functions used in the paper could be differently defined, such as by \textit{T. Yamano} [Physica A 305, No. 3--4, 486--496 (2002; Zbl 1039.33502)] or by \textit{W. Zudilin} [J. Math. Sci., New York 137, No. 2, 4617--4633 (2006); translation from Zap. Nauchn. Semin. POMI 322, 107--124 (2005; Zbl 1088.11052)].
