The quantum dynamical semigroup for a particle immersed in a fluid derived previously by the author [J. Math. Phys. 42, No. 9, 4291--4312 (2001; Zbl 1063.82026)] is analyzed in the limit of heavy Brownian particle and short range interaction potential. The obtained simplified master equation coincides with the so-called ``quantum Fokker-Planck equation'' used in the literature as a phenomenological model of quantum Brownian motion and continuous in time measurements.
