For a special choice of a non-Lipschitz right-hand side, the authors prove that flat ground solutions to the Dirichlet problem of semilinear (elliptic) equations are unstable in dimension 1 and 2, while, in certain parameter regimes, they can be stable in dimension 3 and higher.
