The author gives the formulation of an analog of the modified Rayleigh conjecture (MRC) by \textit{A. G. Ramm} [J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 35, L357--L361 (2002; Zbl 1039.35072)], which can be used in numerical solution of the boundary value problems. The author hopes that the MRC method for static problems can be used as a basis for an efficient numerical algorithm for solving boundary value problems for Laplace equations in domains with complicated boundaries. Such an algorithm was developed by \textit{S. Gutman} and \textit{A. G. Ramm} [Numer. Funct. Anal. Optimization 26, No.~1, 69--80 (2005; Zbl 1071.78022)] on the basis of the MRC for solving boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation. Although the boundary integral equation methods and finite element methods are widely and successfully used for solving these problems, the method on the MRC proved to be competitive and often superior to the currently used methods.
