Strong twines (introduced by the authors of the paper under review) are laycles satisfying certain additional conditions. Any braiding allows the construction of a twine; a braiding for which this construction gives a strong twine is called pseudosymmetric by the authors. They show that for a Hopf algebra with bijective antipode, the canonical braiding on the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is pseudosymmetric if and only if the Hopf algebra is commutative and cocommutative. Next, the Hopf algebraic counterpart of pseudosymmetry is introduced in the form of a pseudotriangular structure; for the family of pointed Hopf algebras of \textit{F. Panaite} and \textit{F. Van Oystaeyen}, [Commun. Algebra 27, No. 10, 4929-4942 (1999; Zbl 0943.16019)], it is shown that all quasitriangular structures are in fact pseudotriangular. The categorical analogue of a twisted algebra is exhibited by means of a pseudotwistor, with strong and pure versions. Each braiding determines locally on an algebra such structure and each laycle leads to a strong pseudotwisted structure; like laycles, strong pseudotwistors behave well with respect to composition and invertibility.
