For any space \(A\), the author introduced in [\textit{G. Minian} and \textit{M. Ottina}, J. Homotopy Relat. Struct. 1, No. 1, 245--271 (2006; Zbl 1129.55005)] \(A\)-cells, which are cones of iterated suspensions of the space \(A\), and CW(\(A\))-complexes, which are topological spaces built up out of \(A\)-cells. This theory of CW(A)-complexes was developed in the thesis of the author. It provides a generalization of the classical theory of CW-complexes, and its relation with the theory of \(A\)-cellular spaces of \textit{E. Dror Farjoun} [Cellular spaces, null spaces and homotopy localization. Lecture Notes in Mathematics. 1622. Berlin: Springer-Verlag (1995; Zbl 0842.55001)] is analyzed in Section 3 of this paper. Later, with appropriate notions of \(A\)-fibration, \(A\)-cofibration and \(A\)-weak equivalence, the author develops in the paper a Quillen closed model category structure in the category of topological spaces which is suitable for the theory of CW(\(A\))-complexes. Actually, with this structure, CW(\(A\))-complexes turn out to be cofibrant objects, there is a CW(\(A\))-approximation for any space and there is a corresponding version of Whitehead's theorem.
