The authors use the generalized curvature-dimension inequality on sub-Riemannian manifolds proved in the first part of this article [the authors, Math. Z. 282, No. 1--2, 99--130 (2016; Zbl 1361.53028)] in order to study the heat semigroup \(P_t\) corresponding to the sub-Laplacian. Under the condition that \(P_t f\) remains uniformly bounded whenever the gradient of \(f\) is bounded (several sufficient conditions for this to hold are given in the paper), they find bounds for the \(L^2\)-norm of the gradient and prove the Poincaré inequality, then they find entropy bounds and prove a Li-Yau type inequality.
