Given a fixed real number \(\theta\), a real number \(x\) is said to be an element of \(\mathbf {Bad}_{\theta}\) if there is a constant \(c(x) > 0\) such that for any \(q \in \mathbb Z \setminus \{0\}\), \(\| q \theta - x\| > c(x) | q |^{-1}\), where \(\| \cdot \|\) denotes the distance to the nearest integer. The author shows that for any \(\theta\), the set \(\mathbf{Bad}_{\theta}\) is \(1/8\)-winning for the Schmidt game. As a consequence, the set has maximal Hausdorff dimension, which reproves parts of a result of \textit{Y. Bugeaud}, \textit{S. Harrap}, \textit{S. Velani} and the reviewer [Mathematika 56, No. 2, 193--202 (2010; Zbl 1227.11095)]. The result in the paper under review is however stronger, as it implies for instance that the property is stable under countable intersection for different values of \(\theta\), as well as under bi-Lipschitz maps.
