    The author gives a linear bound in terms of \(K_S^2\) for the number of automorphisms of a surface \(S\) of general type together with its relatively minimal fibration \(f : S \to C\) in curves of genus 2. He proves that \(\# \Aut (f) \leq 126 K_S^2\) if \(g(C) \geq 2\), \(\# \Aut (f) \leq 144 K_S^2\) if \(g(C) = 1\), and \(\# \Aut (f) \leq 120K_S^2 + 960\) if \(g(C) = 0\). --- Examples are given showing that these bounds are the best possible.
