\textit{B. Moishezon} [Geometric Topology (Haifa 1992), American Mathematical Society, Providence, Contemp. Math. 164, 151-175 (1994; Zbl 0837.14020)] proved that there exists an infinite set \(N\) of positive integers such that, for each \(m\in N\), there exist integers \(\rho_m\), \(d_m\) and an infinite family of symplectic curves \(S_{m,k}\) in \(\mathbb{C} P^2 (k\geq 0)\) of degree \(m\) with \(\rho_m\) cusps and \(d_m\) nodes, such that whenever \(k_1\neq k_2\), the curves \(S_{m,k_1}\) and \(S_{m,k_2}\) are not smoothly isotopic. The authors provide a topological interpretation of this non-isotopy result for symplectic plane curves and discuss the properties of Luttinger's surgery along a Lagrangian torus in a symplectic 4-manifold.
