The author analyzes in detail the behavior of certain condenser capacities in the complex plane. More precisely, he shows the following result: Let \(E\) be a closed subset of the boundary of the unit disc in complex plane with non-zero capacity. Then the capacity of the condenser \((E,F_r)\), with \(F_r\) a disc centered at the origin, of radius \(0<r<1\), blows up as \(r\) grows to \(1\). Moreover, it is not possible to find asymptotic estimates for the rate of convergence. The proof is based on solving a discrete analogue on trees of the continuous problem.
