On a difference equation for generalizations of Charlier polynomials (Q1890551): Difference between revisions

Askey first posed the problem of finding difference equations for generalizations of discrete orthogonal polynomials which are orthogonal with respect to the classical weight function adding an extra point mass at the point \(x= 0\). The authors generalize the classical Charlier polynomials from the above point of view. A similar generalization for Meixner polynomials was given by \textit{H. Bavinck} and \textit{H. van Haeringen} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 184, No. 3, 453-463 (1994; Zbl 0824.33005)].
