Given a \(C^{\infty}\) map \(f:\Sigma\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^3\), where \(\Sigma\) ia a domanin of \(\mathbb{R}^2\), one can study local geometric properties of \(f\), if it is an immersion. For instance, the Gauss map of \(f\), the unit normal field along \(f\), contains important information, such as the Gaussian curvature. When the map \(f\) has a cuspidal edge at \(p\in\Sigma\) geometric invariants and properties of cuspidal edges which are preserved under the isometric transformation of the target space and their relations with the classical invariants of the regular domains of cuspidal edges are interesting. \textit{K. Saji} et al. introduced an invariant, called the singular curvature \(\kappa_s\) of a cuspidal edge in the paper [Ann. Math. (2) 169, No. 2, 491--529 (2009; Zbl 1177.53014)]. In this paper, the author investigates the relation between the Gaussian curvature and the singular curvature of a cuspidal edge. Also the relation of the singularities of the Gauss map and the singular curvature of a cuspidal edge is studied. Moreover, the author defines and characterizes positivity/negativity of cusps of Gauss maps by geometric invariants, showing a relation between the signs of cusps and the Gaussian curvature.
