The paper addresses the problem of compatibility of the principle of superposition for Maxwell fields and the principle of energy-momentum conservation. The authors prove that the energy and momentum of two free electromagnetic field configurations of finite energy, which satisfy a free Maxwell equation and have compact support, are additive. The proof is based on the use of the Clifford bundle formalism, particularly, on the Riesz formula for the energy-momentum densities.
