In the article under review, the author describes the Lawson homology of any smooth complex projective variety blown up along a smooth closed subvariety. The proof relies on an adaptation of the projective bundle theorem of \textit{E. M. Friedlander} and \textit{O. Gabber} [in: Topological methods in modern mathematics. Proceedings of a symposium in honor of John Milnor's sixtieth birthday, held at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA, June 14-June 21, 1991. Houston, TX: Publish or Perish, Inc. 325--370 (1993; Zbl 0830.14008)]. As a corollary, birational invariants of algebraic varieties are constructed via Lawson homology. The same strategy has been used by \textit{Z. Nie} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 137, No. 8, 2529--2539 (2009; Zbl 1183.14029)] and is based on the blow-up structure theorem for Lawson homology established here. The author also proves that some special cases of the Frielander-Mazur conjecture relating the topological filtration and the niveau filtration on the singular homology of a smooth complex projective variety are invariant by birational transformations.
