The authors consider the Anderson-Bernoulli model on the two dimensional lattice with the random Schrödinger operator (Hamiltonian) given by the Laplacian plus a Bernoulli random potential, where Bernoulli potential plays a role of perturbation. They are interested in the influence of the perturbation on the spectral theory of the discrete Laplacian. While the spectrum of the discrete Laplacian is absolutely continuous, the random Hamiltonian may have eigenvalues. The perturbation can create ``traps'' on which eigenfunctions are exponentially localized. This phenomenon is called Anderson localization. It is proved that, for energies sufficiently close to the edge of the spectrum, the resolvent on a large square is likely to decay exponentially. This implies almost sure Anderson localization for energies sufficiently close to the edge of the spectrum. The proof follows the program of Bourgain-Kenig, using a new unique continuation result inspired by a Liouville theorem of Buhovsky-Logunov-Malinnikova-Sodin.
