The authors study the two dimensional Landau-Lifshitz equation \[ u_t = \sum_{i=1}^2 \alpha \nabla_{x_i} \partial_{x_i} u - \beta J (\nabla_{x_i}, \partial_{x_i}) \] in the setting of Kähler manifolds. Global well-posedness is obtained for initial data \(u_0 \in W^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^2; \mathcal{N})\) by the use of Struwe's bubbling arguments. For initial data having energy below a critical energy, the solution on a compact Riemannian surface is shown to converge to a constant map as \(t\to \infty\) in energy space, i.e. \(\lim_{t\to \infty} E(u(t)) =0\), where \(E(u)\) is the energy of \(u\). In the case that \(\mathcal{N}\) is the sphere in two dimensions, it is known that the critical energy is \(4\pi\), and a similar result is shown to hold with the energy of the initial data now restricted to \(E(u_0) < 4\pi\). An analog of Struwe's bubbling theorem is also obtained for a general compact Kähler manifold.
