The Schur subgroup of the Brauer group consists of those elements of the Brauer group which arise from finite groups. The reviewer showed [J. Algebra 341, No. 1, 109--124 (2011; Zbl 1266.20009)] that Clifford theory of finite groups yields elements of the Brauer-Clifford group in a natural way. The author defines the Schur-Clifford group as the subset of the Brauer-Clifford group consisting of those elements of the Brauer-Clifford group which arise from finite groups. The author proves that the Schur-Clifford group is a group, and begins the study of these interesting objects. He proves that the Schur-Clifford group behaves well with respect to restriction and correstriction between Brauer-Clifford groups, and proves some structure theorems. In addition, the author studies some other natural subgroups of the Schur-Clifford group.
