The main result of the paper is the following Theorem. Let \(p\) be a prime number, \(G\) a pro-\(p\)-group, and \(\mathbb{F}_ p\) the trivial \(G\)-module of order \(p\). Suppose that the following three conditions hold: (i) \(cd_ pG = n < \infty\), (ii) \(H^ i(G,\mathbb{F}_ p)\) is finite for \(i \geq 0\), (iii) \(\sum_ i(-1)^ i\dim H^ i(G,\mathbb{F}_ p) \neq 0\). Then each open subgroup of \(G\) has trivial centralizer in \(G\). In particular, the center of \(G\) is trivial.
