The text provides an explicit classification of all flag-homogeneous compact connected polygons with equal topological parameters. All these polygons are Moufang. The restriction on the topological parameters is only a restriction in the case of generalized quadrangles. The authors are convinced that also flag-homogeneous compact connected quadrangles with different topological parameters can be classified. Work is in progress and almost finished. The classification comes with a list of all closed flag-transitive groups acting on the polygons in question. This result will be a very powerful tool in the further investigation of compact polygons. The two main concepts, namely topological generalized polygons and compact transformation groups are introduced briefly. The proof of the classification is presented in sufficient detail. Triangles, quadrangles and hexagons are considered separately. Hexagons cause the most trouble.
