Consider a discrete time queue with several arrival streams sharing an infinite buffer according to a FIFO policy. Assume that the arrival processes jointly satisfy a sample path large deviation principle with linear geodesics. A question which arises is whether the departures also satisfy the ``linear geodesics'' assumption. The authors show that this is not the case in general.
