Let \({\mathcal D}'(\mathbb{R}^n)\) be the space of Schwartz distributions and \({\mathcal H}^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\) the Hardy space. In the paper the authors prove that for any \(f\in{\mathcal H}^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\), \(f\log|f|\) might be given as a distribution and hence the operator \({\mathcal L}:{\mathcal H}^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\to {\mathcal D}'(\mathbb{R}^n)\), \({\mathcal L}(f)= f\log|f|\) makes sense. Among the others they proved the following Theorem. The distribution \(f\log|f|\) is the derivative at zero of the dual variable function \(\Phi: \mathbb{R}\to L^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\subset{\mathcal D}'(\mathbb{R}^n)\) given by \(\Phi(t)= -if|f|^{it}\) for all \(t\in\mathbb{R}\). In the appendix, the authors show that on the Zygmund space \(L^p\log L(\Omega)\) the functional \[ [f]_{L^p\log L(\Omega)}= \Biggl[ \int_\Phi|f(x)|^p\log \Biggl(e+ {|f(x)|\over\|f\|_p}\Biggr) dx\Biggr]^{{1\over p}}, \] where \(\|f\|_p= (\int_\Phi |f(x)|^p dx)^{{1\over p}}\) and \(1\leq p< \infty\), defines an order preserving norm which is equivalent to the Luxemburg norm.
