This paper concerns an inverse problem of nondestructive testing. In a bounded domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^2\) the authors consider the determination of an unknown Lipschitz continuous part \(\gamma\) from observations \({\partial u\over\partial\nu}\left|_\Gamma\right.\) of an accessible part \(\Gamma\) of the boundary \(\partial\Omega\). Here \(\gamma\cup \Gamma\subset \partial\Omega\). The direct problem reads \[ \Delta u|_\Gamma= 0,\quad u|_\Gamma= f,\quad u|_\gamma= 0, \] for the electric potential \(u\). The function \(f\) is given. Under the assumptions \[ f(x)\neq 0,\;\forall x\in\Gamma,\quad u\in C^k(\overline\Omega),\quad \kappa>0, \] the authors prove a doubly logarithmic global stability estimate for the inverrse problem. They use stability results concerning the Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation, which is proved in a previous paper by J. Cheng, C. Hon and M. Yamamoto.
