Multiquadric radial basis functions generated by a function involving a parameter \(c\) have been found to be useful in providing good interpolants for multivariate data [see \textit{R. Franke}, Math. Comput. 38, 181--200 (1982; Zbl 0476.65005)]. The case when \(c \rightarrow \infty \) leads to severely ill-conditioned problems. By allowing the parameter to be complex the authors present here an algorithm which allows numerically stable computations of multiquadric radial basis function interpolant for all parameter values [cf. \textit{T. Driscoll} and \textit{B. Fornberg}, Comput. Math. Appl. 43, 413--422 (2002; Zbl 1006.65013)].
