    The authors argue that in his work on real functions Bolzano not only grasped the notion of uniform continuity but was also aware of what we knowns as Heine's theorem (a function continuous on a closed interval is also uniformly continuous here). They also show that Bolzano also knew that a function can be continuous on an open interval without being uniformly continuous there.
