A geometric \(4\)-configuration is a collection of points and straight lines with the property that every point lies on exactly four lines in the collection and every line passes through exactly four points in the collection. The authors develop a construction technique that leads to new infinite families of rotationally symmetric geometric \(4\)-configurations which are movable; that is, there is at least one continuous parameter which preserves the symmetry of the configuration. They construct configurations with \(2q\) continuous parameters for every integer \(q \geq 2,\) and moveable \(4\)-configurations with dihedral symmetry. This includes a generalization of a dihedrally symmetric configuration previously found by \textit{B. Grünbaum} [Configurations of points and lines. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2009; Zbl 1205.51003)]. Their constructions use reduced Levi graphs, the crossing spans lemma (CSL) and the extended crossing spans lemma (ECSL), a generalization of the CSL.
