Grothendieck proved that the eigenvalues of a compact endomorphism on a nuclear space can be rearranged into a rapidly decreasing sequence. In 1979, this result was extended by Ramanujan and Terzioǧlu to the setting of \(\Lambda_{{\mathbb{N}}}(\alpha)\)-nuclear spaces via the use of a Weyl type inequality on the eigenvalues of a compact operator on Hilbert space when its singular numbers decay as fast as the elements of a \(G_{\infty}\)-space. In the present note we state and prove this inequality in a slightly different form and then use it to yield results on the uniqueness of extension of the ideal of \(\lambda\) (P)-nuclear operators, which in turn leads to the uniqueness of this operator-ideal insofar as it generates the class of \(\lambda\) (P)-nuclear spaces. In this way, our method provides simpler and more direct proofs of some of the results proved recently by Moscatelli and Simões, when considered in the setting of \(\lambda\) (P)-nuclearity. Besides, we get in the process some new results on the characterisation of \(\lambda\) (P)-nuclear operators and on the distribution of their eigenvalues.
