The author gives three theorems in which discrete inequalities of Opial or Wirtinger are proved. The first one is: \[ \sum^{n-1}_{k=0}[u_ k\Delta v_ k+v_{k+1}\Delta u_ k]\leq \frac{n}{2}\sum^{n- 1}_{k=0}[(\Delta u_ k)^ 2+(\Delta v_ k)^ 2]. \] In the second theorem some special case of the inequality proved by \textit{J. S. W. Wong} [Can. Math. Bullunder the abbreviation ``Theoretical aspects of computer science, Proc. 5th Annu. Symp. STACS, Bordeaux/France 1988, Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 294''.
