This work focuses on the stability of atoms and ions within the framework of nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics. Let \(H\) be the Hamiltonian of a system comprising of a single nucleus with spin 0 and \(N\) spin \(1/2\) electrons. \(H\) commutes with the total momentum \(P\) of the system and thus admits the decomposition with respect to \(P\) with the self-adjoint fiber Hamiltonian \(H(P)\). Hence, the problem of stability reduces to the problem of under which conditions \(H(P)\) possesses an eigenenergy at the bottom of its spectrum. The existence of the ground state of \(H(P)\) for \(P\) falling within a suitable interval and under a strictly positive binding energy is established.
