The complexified quantum cohomology ring \(qH^*_\mathbb{C}(G/P)\) of a homogeneous space is obtained from the ordinary cohomology ring \(H^*(G/P)\) by tensoring with the complex polynomial algebra \(\mathbb{C}[q_1, \dots , q_k]\) and then introducing a new multiplication based on the Gromov--Witten invariants. Here \(k\) is the dimension of \(H^2(G/P)\). Peterson's theorem asserts that the complexified quantum cohomology ring is isomorphic to the affine coordinate ring of a certain affine variety \(\mathcal Y_P\). This paper is concerned with this isomorphism on an open dense subset \(\mathcal Y^*_P\), which then corresponds to the ring \(qH^*_\mathbb{C}(G/P)_{(q)}\) obtained from the complexified quantum cohomology ring by inverting the \(q_i\). The isomorphism is obtained by presenting three ingredients of mirror symmetry for \(G/P\) and then proving a theorem which gives a mirror symmetric construction of \(\mathcal Y^*_P\).The ingredients are are (1) a \(k\)-parameter family \(Z\) of affine varieties of dimension \(d=\text{dim}_\mathbb{C}(G/P)\) (\(k\) as above); (2) a holomorphic phase function \(\mathcal F: z \to \mathbb{C}\); and \((3)\) a multi--valued holomorphic function \(\phi: Z \times \mathfrak{h} \to \mathbb{C}\), i. e. a function on a covering of \(Z \times \mathfrak{h}\). (Here \(\mathfrak{h}\) is the Lie algebra of a designated maximal torus \(T\) of \(G\).)
