Let \(f : X \to Y\) be a morphism between Noetherian schemes. Nagata's compactification asserts that \(f\) is the composition of an open immersion and a proper morphism if \(f\) is separated and of finite type. In the present paper, the author shows its analogue for essentially of finite type morphisms. He introduces a new notion ``localizing immersion'' and shows that \(f\) is the composition of a localizing immersion and a proper morphism if \(f\) is separated and essentially of finite type. As consequences, he gives new versions of Zariski's Main Theorem, Chow's Lemma and Grothendieck duality.
