The author discusses the following problem: given a unital algebra \(A\) with a nontrivial idempotent \(P\) and a unital \(A\)-bimodule \(M\), let \(Q \in PAP\) be invertible in \(PAP\). Is it true that every linear mapping derivable at \(Q\) from \(A\) into \(M\) is a derivation?
