A method for the construction of the leap-frog mixed finite element method for solving time-dependent Maxwell's equations in dispersive media is developed. The proposed general framework allows the author to obtain a unified error analysis for all three popular dispersive medium models, namely the single pole Debye medium model, the Lorentzian two pole model, and the isotropic nonmagnetized cold electron plasma model. Numerical results are provided to support the analysis developed in this paper and optimal error estimates are proved under proper regularity assumptions.
