The authors look for conditions under which a certain family of analytic functions is an extended Chebyshev system. This set of functions appears in the study of the number of limit cycles bifurcating from a nonlinear vector field in the plane. To study this problem the authors develop a new method to determine whether a system of functions is an extended Chebyshev system, which they call the \textit{derivation-division algorithm}. They also introduce the notion of \textit{accuracy} of a system of functions. In this interesting paper the authors show that under some natural hypotheses the family of functions is indeed an extended Chebyshev system, and when some of these conditions are not fulfilled then the family is not necessarily an Extended Complete Chebyshev system. One of these examples turns out to be an extended complete Chebyshev system with high accuracy.
