If you write your birthday in the form \(N =\text{DDMMYYYY}\), then you may ask how to construct an elliptic curve \(X: y^2 = x^3 + ax + b\) defined over a suitably chosen finite field \(\mathbb F_p\) such that \(| E(\mathbb F_p)| = N\). The authors show how this can be done using the theory of complex multiplication.
