Given a convex body \(K \subseteq \mathbb{R}^3\), \(\delta^t(K)\) denotes the maximal density of packings of translates of \(K\) in \(\mathbb{R}^3\). The author establishes an upper bound for \(\delta^t(K)\) and proves in particular that \(\delta^t(T) \leq \frac{36\sqrt{10}}{95\sqrt{10}-4}=0.3840\dots\) for a tetrahedron \(T\) and \(\delta^t(C) \leq \frac{90\sqrt{10}}{95\sqrt{10}-4}=0.9601\dots\) for a regular cuboctahedron \(C\). These upper estimates complement the lower bounds \(\delta^t(T) \geq \frac{18}{49}=0.3673...\) and \(\delta^t(C) \geq \frac{45}{49}=0.9183\dots\), that are based on lattice packings of maximal density, see [\textit{D. J. Hoylman}, Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 76, 135--137 (1970; Zbl 0201.24303)].
