In his study of characters for unipotent representations of a finite reductive group, the author introduced a nonabelian Fourier transform matrix for a suitable finite group \(\Gamma\); see \textit{G. Lusztig} [Q. J. Math., Oxf. II. Ser. 30, 315--338 (1979; Zbl 0418.20038)]. The rows and the columns of the matrix are indexed by pairs formed by an element of \(\Gamma\) and an irreducible representation of the centralizer of that element (both defined up to conjugation). In the present paper, the author extends the above matrix to the case where \(\Gamma\) is a reductive group over the complex number field. He proposes a conjectural relation of the new matrix with unipotent characters of \(p\)-adic groups. Then he provides some evidence for the conjecture in the case of an odd spin group. The author gives some precise description for the group \(\Gamma\) in various cases in the Appendix of the paper. For Part I see [the author, ``Unipotent almost characters of simple \(p\)-adic groups'', \url{arXiv:1212.6540}].
