A new construction of Radon curves is presented. The construction uses only convexity methods, that is it does not rely on auxiliary Euclidean metric and it does not use typical methods from the plane Minkowski geometry. The authors also proves that Birkhoff orthogonality is symmetric in a normed plane if and only if its unit circle is a Radon curve. A characterization of Radon curves based on a result of \textit{N. Düvelmeyer} [J. Geom. 80, No. 1--2, 75--81 (2004; Zbl 1053.51009)] is noted.
