    \textit{J. Ecalle} introduced [Publ. Math. Orsay 81--06, 248--531 (1981; Zbl 0499.30035); ibid. 81--05, 247 p. (1981; Zbl 0499.30034)] mould calculus and it has influenced research in both mathematics and physics. The authors use this calculus to give new approaches to several results in Lie theory. They give a proof of the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff formula as well as a result due to Dynkin in this direction. Also shown is a result due to Kimura on the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff formula and a related result due to Zassenhaus.
